5 School Outfit Must Haves.

5 School Outfit Must Haves Five Outfit Must Haves For University Students

I go to university, and I want to look good while doing it. Yet I want to stay comfortable all day. So these are my 5 school outfit must haves.

Yoga Pants

Plain black and skinny is my favourite. They can look dressier being basic and neutral. And oh my goodness are they the most comfortable of all pants. If you don’t feel confident in skinny legs they come in an assortment of styles. I go for high-waisted. It is made of a stretchy material so you do not have to worry about your waist being too tight, and it can help keep things ‘together’ if you aren’t happy with your tummy.

Basic Tee

I have so many basic tees for obvious reasons. It is a staple in most wardrobes. I can’t say enough. Tees can be dressed up or down. Wearing a statement piece on the bottom can balance the outfit with a neutral top, or keep the look professional. Not to mention, a recurring theme of comfort.

Denim Jacket

School here starts in the Fall. The weather gets cool very fast. If the sun is beating down on you it looks casual tied around your waist. And you look effortlessly put together with it being worn. I go for a distressed boyfriend style for a relaxed and slightly edgy vibe. Because I am a very petite lady a little edge can’t hurt.

You may love heels. I don’t unless to occasion calls for it. Then boy oh boy do my legs look good. But it is not practical to run around campus for hours with shoes that kill. Not to mention the stairs you will be climbing, and outdoor walking. Flats, athletic shoes, boots. Wear something comfortable.

This girl tries so hard to get her beauty sleep. But it doesn’t happen. And believe me, I look like I don’t sleep.  I am not one to wear makeup every day. But in my full zombie mode, it makes me feel more alive if I look more alive.

Should You Buy Eyeshadow Pallets?

Should You Buy Eyeshadow Pallets Is It A Wise Decision To Buy Eyeshadow Pallets

Makeup brands are almost always coming out with their newest eyeshadow pallets. Different pallets are almost always being talked about. I myself am timid when it comes to diving into the most hyped eyeshadows because I am honestly not the biggest makeup user. I currently have three eyeshadow pallets in my current makeup collection.

These pallets are as follows: Urban Decay Naked Basics, Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance, and Mac Smokey Metallic Times Nine (No longer available). With math, each of these pallets is a better value than purchasing the eyeshadows individually, not to mention that some shades are pallet exclusive. However, this value is important. It is important because it is in the case that you use all of the eyeshadow colours. If you are head-over-heels for some of the colours, but won’t use some because you don’t like them, then it may not be worth it.

Price is also reflected in whether or not you already have colours that are the same or similar. Do you need four matte black eyeshadows, you probably don’t. I too get caught up in prices or deals from time to time. But I try very hard to think about it. I will put something in my basket, walk around, and they put it back if I don’t absolutely love it.

When I bought the Modern Renaissance pallet I knew the majority of the colours were not something I would use for an everyday look. Because of this, I bought it for myself and my sister to use. She is an everyday dramatic makeup user. Myself, I prefer a pop on special occasions. With this in mind, I have the two neutral brown-toned pallets for me and me alone. One is matte the other with mostly metallic.

Another thing to consider is quality. With these brands, I would never have to pitch someone to get them because they are well know for making amazing eyeshadows, which I myself agree with.

So when you consider buying a pallet take into consideration all of the details mentioned above.

In Depth Skincare and Shower Routine.

In Depth Skincare and Shower Routine A Very In Depth Skincare And Shower Routine

As the months get colder I like to use a more elaborate skincare and shower routine. I am definitely someone who does not shy away from spending way too long in the shower. And if for some reason it is interesting to others like it is to me, here you go.

When I shower I use a lot of products. I’m pretty extra. I use L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Extraordinary Oils Shampoo* and L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Extraordinary Oil Conditioner*, and occasionally their Deep Conditioners. I focus the shampoo on the roots of my hair where the majority of oiliness and dryness occurs. I massage my head and it feels so relaxing. Then I rinse it out so that it washes down the rest of my hair gently cleansing the tips. I apply the conditioner focusing on the tips and only a little on the roots to help with dryness. If I deep condition it is only ever the tips. After that, I put it in a bun or ponytail to let it soak in.

Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash* in combination with The Body Shop Ultra Fine Bath Lily* is a great combination. The body wash gets super sudsy. After washing it off I use The Body Shop Shea Body Scrub*. I do this before shaving for a closer shave, and it helps remove dry skin. I use the Gillette Venus Swirl* for shaving. It is amazing. It swivels so well I haven’t cut myself since using it.

Then I brush my teeth in the shower. Weird, I know. I use a Colgate Toothbrush*, and Crest 3D Luxe Diamond Strong Toothpaste*. I then wash my face using my Sephora Collection Cleansing Pad** and Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. Then I rinse everything out of my hair and dry off.

Once I’m out I use Crest Diamond-Strong Mouthwash. After that, I start my skincare routine. I apply Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner* on a cotton round. After that, I use my two serums Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. SKin Quenching Serum and Vinoperfect Radiance Serum. Followed by my Sunday Riley Brightening Enzyme Water Cream, and my Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet. Extra, I know.

Then I use my The Body Shop Shea Butter* on my entire body and Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream on my upper thighs. It is firming, and it smells delicious. I put in Verb Leave-In Mist with Bleu Lavande Lavender Essential Oil* I’ve added to it in my hair to remove knots.

When I go to bed I will put more on for the smell, and then add even more face products if I feel like it. In that case, I follow the same steps as mentioned in my Baby Soft Face Overnight post.

Baby Soft Face Overnight.

Baby Soft Face Overnight How To Get A Baby Soft Face In Just One Night

Now I accidentally stumbled across a way for a baby soft face overnight. I have purchased 4 of origins face masks and love them all. I purchased the Original Skin, Drink Up Intensive, Out of Trouble and Drink Up masks. Today I will be talking about the Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask to Quench Skin’s Thirst. Oh, my goodness do I love it. First off the smell is divine. I can’t pinpoint it exactly but it smells delicious, it’s like sweet apricots.

Here Is What I Do.

Before I put the mask on I start with a clean and fresh face. Josie Maron 100% Argon Oil is the dripped onto my face and massaged in. It feels really relaxing before bed. I then take a somewhat generous amount of the mask and massage it into my face, then I take more and do the same until it feels soaked in and then I go to bed.

When I wake up in the morning I have the softest face I have felt. I don’t wash my face in the morning when I do this because my face and sheets were clean when I went to bed so my face remains clean for the day.

If I am having skin that is behaving in a troublesome manner I will spot treat with Fruit of the Earth 100% Aloe Vera Gel*, which itself can be quite drying so combining the nourishing mask with it can prevent drying out my skin and ending up with dry patches.

The Results

I have done this multiple times and the results have always been the same. Feeling soft and hydrated in the morning. Baby soft skin overnight was not even a thought of mine until it happened, now I can’t imagine having a rough face again.

What do you do in order to get and keep a soft face? What do you recommend to do?

I recommended this combination to my sister after her face was dried out from the cold wind and it worked wonders.

Back To School Basics

Back To School Basics Back To School Basics That You Actually Use In University

I am in University. This means that I have a back to school supply list I make, and then dread buying because school is so expensive. On top of the things I find myself purchasing every year I also have buy once staples. So here are my back to school basics.

One and Dones:

Laptop – This is my baby. I bought an Apple MacBook Air 13.3-Inch Laptop* for school and have used it absolutely every single day. This laptop is lightweight for me to lug around all day. I live off campus so I have it on me my entire time on campus. You definitely don’t  need to buy that laptop, but I use mine for everything. I take my notes, type assignments, send emails, and basically live my school life on it.

Bag – This is not necessarily a one and done for everyone. But I bought an expensive bag so I better use it a long time. I purchased a Ralph Lauren handbag which I know fits my laptop. It is genuine leather and gorgeous. This is where I chose to invest. I had a handbag the year before that was not very sturdy and it made carrying my laptop in it a nervous experience.  So I upgraded.

Common Purchases:

Weekly Planner – I use a Moleskine Classic Notebook* for my weekly planner. I like to start fresh with a new one every year. Typically it goes from September – August, or July – June.

Pens – I love pens. Specifically the Staples Strata 0.5 Black Ink Pen. It is so fine and is great in my bullet journal. It also allows me to write very small, which is how I write. And my notes don’t look so bold. I don’t bother with white out. I just scratch it out.

Pencils – I’m taking Statistics and Calculus so a pencil is necessary along with the sharpeners and erasers. Also, I like to have really cheap pencils in my bag in case someone needs to borrow one. I am not lending out my beloved pens. Ever.

Pencil Case – Not necessary. But mine get so messy. It’s actually gross how messy it is by the end of the year. I have tried everything under the sun. Different colours, shapes, sizes, patterns. still nasty.

Misc – This is highlighters, lined paper, ruler, etc.

What are your back to school basics?

Nudestix Review.

Nudestix Review You But Better Natural Makeup For Lazy Girls Like Me

Let’s be honest. I am not one for being makeup obsessed. I am so lazy when it comes to everyday makeup. If you have seen my past makeup collection you know that I don’t go wild with my purchases. I am definitely quality over quantity.  Somewhat recently I purchased Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Colour Bronze + Glow in the shade Illumi-Naughty (Not available on Sephora.ca). I have never been so in love with a highlight. So here is my Nudestix review.

I am very dry. So incredibly dry. I strive to have healthy glowy skin. From the first moment I swatched it in Sephora I was in love. This is not an extreme shine. It is not metallic. Nor is it not glittery or chunky. It creates a natural dewy shine. If I had to describe it perfectly it would be that you appear to sweat in the most gorgeous way. Weird, I am aware, but trust me it is so beautiful. I have worn it every day since. This lead me to purchase the Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Colour Matte in Bondi Bae.

Bondi Bae

I also swatched this one in the store so I knew it was just as creamy. I purchased it online after I fell in love with Illumi-Naughty. It is just a really good colour for bronzer. The shade is definitely meant for fair skin tones, as are most of the products due to the creators being from Canada and fair themselves. It is the perfect balance between neutral and warm shades. It is not too ashy like a lot of shades targeted for the very pale, and not too orange because bronzer is almost always orange on me.

Bare Back

Once I got the bronzer in Bondi Bae I knew I wanted a blush shade. There are three blush shades for my skin tone, Deep Maple Eh is too dark for my taste. So Bare Back was the one I chose. It is a light pink that leans more on the cool side. It is very natural looking. Almost like a flush to the cheeks. The formula is also a matte finish. All of the products have a built in brush on the other end which is detachable so it is easy to clean. Due to laziness, I find myself almost exclusively using the brush attached, and it works way better than I had expected.

I have been using the products for a few weeks now and I am so very pleased with my purchases. My skin looks like me but better. I could tell people I’m not wearing any makeup and they would totally believe me. I use these on top of my Make Up For Ever Water Blend Foundation to round off the very natural makeup look.

If you have tried any Nudestix products I would love to your thoughts.

Current Makeup Collection.

Current Makeup Collection July High-End Makeup Collection

I have an exclusively high-end makeup collection at the moment. I don’t use makeup every day, therefore, I can afford to splurge on more expensive products. There is absolutely nothing wrong with drugstore makeup, however, I typically aim for quality over quantity in the items I own like makeup and clothes. I am very fair in complexion, so sometimes my options are quite limited. I shop at Sephora because their online shipping is easy and the Beauty Insider account is a bonus.

Makeup Collection:

  • Face Primer. Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer was a birthday gift from my sister, and I have used it every time I wear makeup since. It is moisturizing and feels really good on the skin. It has a gentle scent that is not chemically.
  • Foundation. I use Make Up For Ever Water Blend Face & Body Foundation. It is a light coverage buildable product that gives me the moisture I crave in face products. The finish is more on the dewy side, and can almost appear as a tinted moisturizer when applied with a sponge. I use shade Y215.
  • Concealer. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly is perfect for me. It is basically the colour of my skin and is more of a medium coverage when applied with a sponge making it easy to cover my very dark undereye area.
  • Eyeshadow. My very first Sephora purchase was the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. I to this day love it. I am not very adventurous when it comes to makeup, so this palette has everything I need.
  • Eyeliner. I got Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer. I don’t use eyeliner often so I don’t have much of an opinion on it.
  • Eyebrows. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Blonde is perfect for taming my crazy brows and filling in the patchy spots in a way that is not overly dramatic.
  • Lipstick.
    • Pink Lipstick. Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien is a gorgeous satin pink with a gold iridescence. I first got this for a birthday present from Sephora.
    • Rose Lipstick. Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang has gone unused so far because I am saving it for an occasion.
    • Red Lipstick. The birthday gift in 2015 included Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. It is not drying compared to other matte lipsticks I have tried, but I look like snow white with such a bright colour so save it for Halloween.
  • Setting Powder. My setting powder is almost a very subtle highlighter. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Etherial Light provides an almost-white glow that compliments my complexion more than any other I have tried.
  • Setting Spray. It’s more of a face mist that I use to set my makeup. Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Marine Boosting Mist is perfect for natural makeup for those with dry skin.

Boyfriend Gift Ideas.

Boyfriend Gift Ideas What To Get Your Boyfriend Or Husband For His Birthday

It was my man’s birthday this week and I was so excited to show him what was picked special for him. I made him a 100+ page book of edible plants, berries, and mushrooms from where we live and he was ecstatic, to say the least. It took weeks. No joke. But it was completely worth it to see his reaction. On top of that, I got him an instant camera. He adored it, to say the least. I was smiling ear to ear all day. One birthday well done. You might not have an idea in mind so here are some boyfriend gift ideas.

If you are clueless as to what to get your man for his birthday here are some ideas:

Idea #1 A Camera. It is a romantic way to capture your future together. I went with a Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 Instant Camera* which perfectly fits our love for retro cameras while still being technologically advanced. You could also get a disposable camera like the Kodak Single Use Cameras* or a digital camera like the Canon EOS Rebel T6i* depending on their preferences.

Idea #2 A Blanket. I made my man a blanket for Christmas because he is so tall that they never cover his toes. He absolutely loved it, even before he knew I made it.

Idea #3 His Favourite Movie. These days it is less likely to own a physical copy of a movie. If you get the actual DVD it can be a sweet gesture or a VHS for nostalgia.

Idea #4 A Sweater. If you are prone to stealing his sweaters it is always appreciated to have more.

Idea #5 Car Stuff. This can range from a remote starter to a steering wheel cover, or even a safety kit. Everyone likes a little perk to their vehicle, especially if he tends not to buy comfort items for their’s because it is a want, not a need.

Wedding Gift Ideas 2017.

Wedding Gift Ideas 2017 Perfect Gift Ideas For Weddings 2017

You all know what that means, not only are your weekends filled with fancy clothes and late nights but wedding gifts. When attending a wedding it is customary to bring a gift for the bride and groom. Usually, people have a money box, or a gift registry set up. But, sometimes you just want to get them something that showed you put a lot of thought in. Purchasing a gift they spelled out for people can seem impersonal. Money can seem downright lazy, although greatly appreciated.

Here are some of my wedding gift ideas:

Idea #1 Gift Republic Name a Star Gift Box*. My absolute favourite unexpected gift idea. Technically no one can own a star, therefore name it, but the act of naming a star together seems so romantic to me.

Idea #2 Map Pillow.  More of a DIY, or paid service. Getting a pillow cover and ironing on a map of where the couple first met, or the town they live in is such a sentimental piece no one would think to ask for.

Idea #3 Overlooked Household Musts. Coasters for the new table, flowers need a vase, everyone has a favourite mug that doesn’t make the boring set.

Idea #4 House Plants. Aloe Vera is very low maintenance, yet is an easy solution for common kitchen cuts.

Do you have any wedding gift ideas I may have forgotten?

Are Posters Real Art.

Are Posters Real Art Are Posters A Real Form Of Artwork

My personal opinion of wall posters is a positive one.  I love movie, music, art posters. They are a completely valid form of artwork for your wall. I have on of my favourite pieces, a 6″x4″ version of A Starry Night by Vincent Von Gogh. I have it put up above my bed as if it were my headboard. Other than that I have a Rosie the Riveter 3″x2″ poster. It is framed for a more professional appeal. Personally, I prefer a colour scheme for rooms, so I have an eclectic feel with retro primary colours. But poster are pretty rad.

Here are my favourite posters at the moment:

Poster #1 Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh Poster Print*. I absolutely love the painting. So much so that I got it in a 6″x4″ print. The poster to please those with a taste for more elegant or fine art.

Poster #2 We Can Do It! (Rosie the Riveter) Poster*. I am a big fan of showing off girl power. Rosie was a character created during the Second World War as a way of encouraging females to join the workplace because men were away at war.

Poster #3 Fallout 4 – Nuka Cola Poster Print*. This is a vintage looking cola poster from a video game, Fallout, that I love. It fits my colour scheme and is more along the pinup style of portraying females.
